Following the warmly received release of ‘I Don’t Like Me’, Sydney-based punk quartet FANGZ have returned with their unrelenting new single ‘Won’t Be Me’ – produced by Stevie Knight (Yours TrulyStand AtlanticThe Dead Love), and mixed by James Paul Wisner (ParamoreUnderoath).

Opening with palm-muted guitars and the fluctuating vocals of frontman Joshua Cottreau, ‘Won’t Be Me’ heaves into a thunderous concoction of emphatic drums and spirited bass, while stratums of guitars soar vehemently above the mix. Four-on-the-floor rhythms permeate the verses before launching into a volatile half-time chorus, bristling with contagious melodies and dynamic hooks. Cathartic alterations heighten the arrangement before its poignant climax.

“’Won’t Be Me’ is about staying in a relationship with someone you love even though it seems destined to fail," Cottreau comments. "It follows the thought process and battle of knowing when to let go of the person you care for. I guess it’s a breakup song and a love song at the same time.”

To coincide with the release, FANGZ will be announcing a 20-date national headline tour, including an appearance at Halloween Hysteria and multiple performances in SydneyMelbourneBrisbane and numerous regional towns. This continues from the band’s sold-out ‘Self Medicate’ tour in early 2021, where they made appearances throughout NSW, ACT, VIC and QLD.
