BARLEY PASSABLE today share their debut EP Hindsight. Spanning five tracks, the new collection looks back on events from the emerging Sydney duo’s past: from unrequited love and fleeting moments of invincibility through to self realisation and growing from the most negative situations. Including synth-infused electro bops ‘Step Inside’ and ‘Turnaround’, the entire release was written, recorded and produced by Barley Passable (aka Kai Ollman and Davy Brown) in their home studio on Sydney's Northern Beaches. Hindsight showcases their dexterity as creatives: mixing music and modern culture through fashion (see merch here), film, photography and design. Speaking of the EP, they share: “Hindsight is all too human. Often painfully, hindsight pulls the past into the now and helps us to see that looking back on even the most negative of situations can push growth and momentum. This EP is our way of returning to various scenes over the last few years, from the first time we met, and speaking to these situations, as they still run on repeat in our minds. It is a constant reminder telling us to remember exactly who we are, to trust our heads and to be passionate and happy. Most importantly we hope it does the same for all who listen.”

New track ‘Silver’ is an ode to moments of fleeting invincibility. They share: “We love Silver for the message it carries. We think it’s a song for everyone, for every situation. It speaks to that moment where you feel invincible because everything you’re doing is working for you. The thing that holds you taller, that goes unseen by everyone. Everyone has these moments, and Silver is made to remember them.”

Born out of a joint distaste of their studies, Kai and Davy formed Barley Passable in early 2019. After spending a year writing together, they shared their promising debut single ‘All I Have’ in early 2020. The track was followed by a string of impressive releases including ‘Whether Or Not’, ‘Step Inside’ and ‘Turnaround’, which have won them praise at home from a range of triple j tastemakers on Unearthed and youth portal, Life Without Andy, as well as overseas in the UK.
