Our Team

Owner, Photographer, Writer, Editor, Web Designer, Public Relations, Booker, Publisher, Social Media, Maker Of Barista Style Coffees or Specialist Teas, All Round Nice Gal and All The Rest…!

After years of working solo and under different publications our founder Monika Smith decided to branch out on her own to continue to follow her passions of live music photography and to grow beyond the pit she was so fond of being in.
She wanted to support the music industry that opened so many doors for her as a photographer.

As the world slides into chaos it became more apparent that the music industry needed a light to shine on it now more than ever. The creative arts are there when disasters happen, they are there when we are are our lowest and they are there for all the highs. Music brings people out of the darkness and into the light; further reaffirming and bringing joy to your heart.
Giving back to the industry that gave her so much was the forefront of the reason Monika began this journey.

Taking the name as a play on words: “Roar from the crowd”, and “RAW being a format to photograph in”, Rawing In The Pit Media slowly took shape in 2019 with a lot of sweat, frustration and focus. With a small but extremely talented team Rawing In The Pit Media is looking to burst onto the scene to focus not only on music, but all the joys of all the fun things life has to offer.

Jade

Photographer, writer

Jade is photographer and writer from Sydney, Australia. A few years ago, she started checking out local gigs and fell in love with the local music scene in Sydney. After making some new friends and meeting people who were involved with local music she wanted to be able to contribute to the local scene and her photography adventure started. During her short time as a photographer she has shot a variety of acts, but her heart is in shooting local talent. Jade believes that Australian musicians have so much to offer and her passion is for capturing that with her camera.

“Photographing live music is unlike anything else, with a single shot you capture so much of a musician and their dedication to their art and for me when I have a camera in my hand, there is nothing else I would rather be doing”
