Melbourne indie producer Fletcher Gull returns today with a thought-provoking and melodic single and video clip.

Produced by Japanese Wallpaper and mixed by Matt Redlich (Ballpark Music, Emma Louise) Fletcher's latest work expresses brooding inner anguish and pushes the envelope of social discourse through his poetic lyricism. The single sonically juxtaposes the themes with shimmery percussion, driving acoustic guitar and playful soundscapes.

“In the modern world we live closer to each other than ever, but our worlds have never been further apart. The news outlets in our feed and the friends on our Facebook define the reality in which we live. We surround ourselves with people and stories that reinforce our narrow worldview, insulated in the cosy walls of our tribe. To go out on our own and endeavour to map our own path to the truth has become a tightrope walk over a pit of knives. Even if we don't fall, we might be cast out for our transgressions and we will be naked in the world, an outsider to everyone. It's a world where the wilfully blind throw stones and honest people get caught in the crossfire. This song is for people walking that tightrope; don't lose hope, it will lead somewhere," explains Fletcher.

The striking video clip to accompany the single sees Fletcher being pushed, pulled and smothered in red paint; a visual interpretation and symbolism of everyday social expectations. ‘Transgressive Soliloquy’ follows his earlier releases this year 'City Is Busy' and 'Heaven Is Around The Corner'. ‘City Is Busy’ saw Fletcher Gull chosen as the Next Wave Artist on Jack Saunders BBC Radio 1 show plus plays on triple j, RTVE radio 3 (spain), triple j unearthed, SYN TV. His singles were added to Spotify’s Indie Arrivals and were noticed by NME Australia, Carte Blanche, X-Ray Magazine (UK), Musicazul (Spain), Indie Midlands (UK), Milky, AAA Backstage and AU Review for 'Track Of The Day'.

‘Transgressive Soliloquy’ is the last chapter before he is set to release his second EP Ancient History Shares A Knowing Smile. The EP came into fruition after an accidental drug overdose that had a profound effect on him.

Last year Fletcher released his debut EP Remember That You’re Gone which premiered on triple j’s Home & Hosed, and received international praise with a video premiere on Clash Magazine. On to of this Fletcher was featured on Tone Deaf's 'Video Of The Week' for 'Decuido', was added to triple j Unearthed and had plans to do a national tour with Alex The Astronaut before it was cancelled due to COVID-19.

Fletcher's lust for literature and story-telling and his work is an invitation to the pages of his mind. So take a step and grab hold as he guides you down the rabbit hole.
