G Flip, also known as drummer turned producer-singer-songwriter and queer icon Georgia Flipo, today shares new single and video ‘Waiting Game’ featuring renforshort. Premiered via triple j, the infectious new single is overflowing with everything we love about G Flip: powerhouse vocals, climactic percussion, and bittersweet lyrics that pull right on the heartstrings. 'Waiting Game' was penned in LA alongside producer Pat Morrisey (Hayley Kiyoko, SAINt JHN, SZA) and while the track has been a work in progress since 2019, G enlisted renforshort for a verse last year after hearing one of her songs on the radio.

G Flip says: “Waiting Game is about a long distance relationship. It's about wanting and desiring something or someone that you can’t have at that very moment. I think a lot of people in the current climate can relate to this. Myself and producer Pat Morrissey met up in LA in 2019. We got stuck in and finished the majority of the production on the first day and I layed down all the melodies in gibberish. The next time we met up I recorded all the lyrics and Pat tightened up the production and we had the track! I’ve been a big fan of renforshort after hearing one of her tracks on triple j while driving. She dug Waiting Game and wrote a 2nd verse on it and I LOVED IT and gave her no notes cause it was perfect! She’s so talented and I absolutely love her tone.”

Renforshort adds: "I was so excited when G Flip reached out to me for Waiting Game. I’m such a fan of their music and admire their talent and when I got the song I knew it was a really special one! I think Waiting Game has such a relatable message and that comes through clearly in the lyrics and it’s really easy to vibe to. I'm so excited about this song and collaborating with an amazing Australian artist, Australia is my fav place in the world and I miss it dearly, so it’s a good way to feel like I’m there in spirit".

Already in the latter half of 2021, it seems G Flip’s winning-streak has no end in sight. Their latest cut follows four extremely impressive collaborations with Thomas HeadonBaker Boyfilous, and mxmtoon, and comes off the back of a hectic year, which has seen them perform at the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras and the AFLW Grand Final, appear on The Project and Spicks and Specks, and score a gig hosting the TikTok Trending show on iHeartRadio

It’s hard to believe G Flip has only been releasing music for a few years as they’ve gone from strength to strength to strength. A critically acclaimed debut album, multiple ARIA Award nominations, four places in triple j’s Hottest 100 of 2020 and 2019, the biggest Like A Version of the year, an MTV EMA Award, a Crocs collab, and a number of gold and platinum certified singles are just some of the accolades the young songwriter has earned in that time. There’s still more to come from G Flip this year, stay tuned.

ABOUT RENFORSHORT

For renforshort, music is her diary: unfiltered, full of angst and tackling everyday teen struggles hit hardest when coming of age. The 18-year-old singer-songwriter doesn’t pretend to have it all figured out, but she wants us to be by her side while she does. After releasing just two independent singles, Lauren inked her first record deal with Interscope Records just last year. At the peak of the pandemic, she shared her debut EP teenage angst, brimming with seven soul-baring, alt-pop bangers influenced by everyone from Nirvana to Amy Winehouse. And she hasn’t slowed down since. While quarantine found many teens biding their time making TikTok videos, renforshort continued cutting her teeth writing music. The result is her sophomore EP off saint dominique, a collection of deeply reflective and snappy tracks that range from acoustic pop to alt-rock to pop-punk.
