Just nine months on from the release of her acclaimed The Making Of Me EP, Imogen Clark delivers her brand new record, BASTARDS, out today. Listen to the EP here.
Recorded remotely between Sydney and LA, BASTARDS sees Imogen once again join forces with producer Mike Bloom (Jenny Lewis, Julian Casablancas) and engineer Will Golden on the reflective six-track offering.
“This record is about the lessons I’ve learned about the people around me, and the different types of relationships you have in this world as a woman”, says Imogen.
On BASTARDS, Imogen has teamed up with some of music’s finest talent; Eilish Gilligan on ‘Forget About London’, Timothy James Bowen on ‘Casualty’, Dawes’ Taylor Goldsmith on ‘Never This Time’ and Men At Work’s Colin Hay on the emotive ‘First Class Man’, amongst others.
The EP’s title track is a battle cry, a screw you to the entitled, patronising men that Imogen has encountered over the course of her music career. Underpinned by two rock icons on drums and keys respectively – Pete Thomas (Elvis Costello and the Attractions) and Benmont Tench (Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers) – Imogen hopes the track’s powerful energy will light a fire in the bellies of girls and women around the world.
“This song is a reminder to never let the bastards grind you down”, said Imogen, “because being underestimated can be a powerful position. While someone is busy undervaluing your abilities, you’ll be running circles around them and they won’t know what hit them.”
The just-released animated music video for ‘Bastards’ reiterates this theme. “Doing an animated clip meant we could go big and over the top, while also touching on animal cruelty, a subject I feel really passionate about. It’s a total dream to be immortalised as a superhero, with my real-life dog daughter Socks as my sidekick!”
Imogen also today announces a headline show with her band at Sydney’s The Lansdowne Hotel on Friday 27 August. Tickets are on sale now.
Additionally, she will wow music lovers with a professionally filmed, full-band livestream event on Sunday 6 June at 3pm AEST. Audiences will be able to tune in from the comfort of their homes via Imogen’s Facebook page.

ABOUT IMOGEN CLARK
Imogen Clark is an Australian singer-songwriter, hailing from the Blue Mountains of New South Wales, whose music ranges from arena-ready rock anthems to raw confessional indie pop.
Since 2016, the 25 year-old has released two studio albums and one EP – 2020’s The Making Of Me – and featured on a number of compilation albums.
Cutting her teeth playing in local pubs in the Blue Mountains during her teen years before taking the stage with artists like Shania Twain, Ian Moss and Willie Watson, Imogen has worked relentlessly over the past decade building up her musical chops. She has worked with Mark Lizotte (Diesel), Kasey Chambers and Jim Lauderdale and cites Benmont Tench (Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers) and Pete Thomas (Elvis Costello and the Attractions) amongst her collaborators.
Released in August of last year, Imogen Clark’s The Making Of Me EP garnered widespread acclaim both in Australia and North America. Praised for its raw honesty by fans and critics, the six-track offering showcased Imogen’s powerful vocal and reflective lyrics.
Recorded in LA with producer Mike Bloom (Julian Casablancas, Jenny Lewis) at the helm, The Making Of Me features a star-studded line-up with players from some of the world’s greatest rock bands – from Benmont Tench (Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers) on keyboard, to Pete Thomas (Elvis Costello and the Attractions) on drums. Local artists Alex Lahey, Clare Bowen, Emma Swift, Anita Lester and more can be found across EP singles ‘Found Me’, ‘My Own Worst Enemy’, ‘The Making Of Me’, and ‘Paper Boat’.
