Introducing Sydney-based UK gutter-punk outfit Dick Dudley

Dick Dudley are a four-piece, gutter-punk outfit from Liverpool (UK), Sydney and Melbourne. They're very pleased to make your acquaintance.
Following a prolonged period existing solely through word-of-mouth and the occasional on-stage appearance, Dick Dudley are also quite chuffed to share with you their debut double single 'Soft Boy / Daniel'.
'Soft Boy' was mixed by Shuta Shinoda (Daughter, Ghostpoet, Hot Chip), and takes aim at modern masculinity through the lens of a deeply flawed narrator.
On the lyrical content 'Soft Boy', frontman Richard offers the following:
"During our youth, many of my kin and I looked in envy to the sporting ladies men. In order to combat this, we told ourselves that we in fact were the ones to be envied. Alas, this is a farce."
'Daniel' was mixed by Owen Penglis (Royal Headache, Straight Arrows, Mini Skirt), and recounts front-man Richie’s unsuccessful job application as a validation chemist for AstraZeneca while picking at the numbing corporate culture he was (in hindsight) lucky to have avoided.
With relation to 'Daniel', Richard imparts:
"The listener may choose to read more deeply into the hidden meaning of this song; an impassive commentary on the mundanity of corporate life.
In reality, email chains make easy lyrics for the lazy song writer."
Even the members of Dick Dudley acknowledge that Dick Dudley is a very unlikely band. Jim (guitar) and Richard Harris (vocals) met counting pennies for lukewarm pints surrounded by Scouse accents at the Kazimier Garden. Justin Lee Williams (Bass) was living on the streets of Paris painting flowers, while Sebastian Stefani (Drums) was sorting out a PhD in Neuroscience.
Their disparate influences, life experiences and career trajectories remarkably, implausibly, come together to form Dick Dudley; a melting pot of Australian post-punk textures, Liverpudlian witticisms and no-wave sensibilities.
Here is an outfit making music that sounds like it lies in the gutter, but looks to the skies. Co-helmed by Jim’s intricate guitar compositions and Harris’ playfully acerbic outlook, Dick Dudley are stridently battling against their own lack of notoriety with equally compelling recordings and live performances.
