LOSER Unveil 'On The Edge' Single & Video

After its premiere via triple j Good Nights this week, Melbourne's LOSER reveal their new single and video 'On The Edge' today. Self-recorded out of the band's newly launched Restless Noise Studios, 'On The Edge' comes as LOSER prepare to finally launch their 2020 album Mindless Joy at a sold out Melbourne show tonight. Vocalist/guitarist Tim Maxwell shares how 'On The Edge' was recorded at the brink of his personal breakdown during lockdown last year. From the vocal performance, artwork and all parts in between, the track carries both a tiredness yet a sincere strength, undoubtedly marking it as a LOSER stand out.
Tim adds:
“'On The Edge' is a song about feeling overwhelmed by the anxiety of living and trying to overcome those fears by being happy with who you are and accepting yourself. Sometimes it’s easy to hide these feelings under the rug and put on a brave face but someday it will eat you alive and bare its true colours.
"This song was recorded when I was going through all of those thoughts in my head...it’s the closest I’ve been to a complete breakdown, but I went on to face those fears and felt a huge weight lifted off my shoulders. This song feels cathartic to that time now and I’m proud of what we produced.”
Today's music video finds Tim starring front and centre in a darkly lit room while screens glitch and flash around him representing the cocktail of anxious and distressed thoughts he battled. Click below to watch.
'On The Edge' comes after the release of some of the band’s most reactive releases to date in 'All I Need' and ‘Upside Down’ recently. The tracks saw playlist additions to the likes of New Music Friday AU/NZ, All New Rock, Local Noise, Rock Out, The Punk List, The New Rock + more, triple j/Unearthed play and rotation support, features via The Music, Wall Of Sound & Depth Magazine and have garnered over streams 70K combined to date.
LOSER officially launched Restless Noise Studios (coined after the band's 2018 EP) to the public in January, after brothers Tim and Will Maxwell took to their parents' garage to build a studio from scratch during lockdown. Restless Noise Studios will find LOSER recording other artists while continuing to double down on self-recording their upcoming new album, due for release in 2021.
New single 'On The Edge' is out now via Domestic La La. LOSER is Tim Maxwell (vocals/guitar), Dragon Maxwell (guitar), Craig Selak (bass) and Jake Farrugia (drums).
