Maitland artist JKTS releases inspirational hip-hop track and video "iKNOW"

We've all been spun 180 degrees this year, and Maitland artist JKTS has a powerful message for us with his latest release, 'iKNOW'; above everything else, trust your inner voice.

To follow his July release of 'Away', Lachlan Cawsey is here to remind us all that when people take it upon themselves to tell us what we should or shouldn't be doing, that our intuition should always come into play, and honestly, we all need a dose of that advice!

"When it comes to your art, whatever that may be, you are in the driver’s seat. As much as advice and even a nudge in any direction can be helpful or even needed, the only way you’re going to get to your destination is by listening to your own voice. That's how you learn and grow, helping find your style, discovering who you are and perfecting your craft."

The track comes with a video, filmed, produced and edited by Lachlan in the midst of lockdown and follows the sentiments of the song.

"I wanted to make the video myself to kind of show that you really can do it all if you just try. I heard Kevin Abstract say that if a young artist is trying to get their name out there and is stuck coming up with creative ideas for music videos, to utilise their neighbourhood and collaborate with friends. He said that is the future and to keep it simple and not to think too big, but make sure you’re reaching.' I love make making videos and I love this song, no better time than now to hone in on my ideas."

Starting his music journey at 19, JKTS never found himself gravitating towards a preferred genre, but rather following an adulation of sound and vibe.

“I started music in 2017 when I was 19. I didn’t really have a taste or specific style musically, I liked what I liked and kind of rushed into it. I used to go by ‘Jackets’, but as time passed I realised I wasn’t being myself and was forcing creativity that just didn’t feel natural. So I hid away and kept practicing and focusing more on myself rather than what others were doing, taking the pressure off my shoulders and just tried to enjoy what I do."
