Sydney-based, Scandi-born pop songstress Mila Nile has just revealed a handcrafted accompanying video for her new single ‘Don’t Need Your Love’.
Shot in various locations, the clip features Mila Nile performing and choreographing the song while quick camera cuts, close ups, and glitchy aesthetics add to the visual attraction. Wardrobe changes emphasise Mila’s sense of style, as her flounce accentuates the song’s message.
Mila talks about the concept behind ‘Don’t Need Your Love’:
“The song is about embracing yourself and is meant to work as a reminder to tell yourself that you are good enough. The concept for the glitches that happen through the film clip is that they represent those moments where you falter and fall back into old habits of self-doubt.”
Since its release, ‘Don’t Need Your Love’ has been praised by the likes of Music Feeds, Women In Pop, Futuremag Music, The Soundcheck, Something You Said and AAA Backstage. It has also seen radio support from triple j Unearthed, SYN FM, Radio Adelaide, Indie Discotheque, 3BBR FM and Tribe FM.
Mila co-writes all of her music with her partner Simon, taking influence from pop icons Lorde, Tove Styrke and Broods. “I find my sound is heavily influenced by the Australasian and Scandinavian sound”, she explains. “I like to think of myself as a musical hybrid, blending the brooding pop sensibilities of the North with the bright, sizzling sounds of the South.”
Outside of music, Mila works across various artistic pursuits, “I work as a photographer, mostly in fashion, but I also love portraiture and working with small businesses. I love realising a designer’s, artist’s or business owner’s vision through the visual medium”, she adds.
