MILD WEST RELEASE 'POMPEII' AHEAD OF UPCOMING ALBUM MACHINE LEARNING

Timed to transmit their latest surreal sound, Mild West, who have escaped the constraints of separation and are creating music from different parts of the country, release their third track 'Pompeii' from forthcoming album Machine Learning.

The mechanics of 'POMPEII' are poignantly psychedelic and heavily hypnotic, the band have created a vivid cinematic soundscape that sits against the backdrop of bold synthesizers, magnetic vocals and heavy drums, driving the dramatic narrative of 'Pompeii' to the point of eruption. Mild West explains that 'Pompeii' is inspired by the digital age and humanity's technological advances. They connect themes of a dystopian future, where machines take control of humanity, with Mild West's distinctive musical aesthetic. "Pompeii tells the story of an apocalyptic event in which a malevolent AI takes control over humanity for its own purposes." they further discuss, "The track is centred around a multi-layered, heavily manipulated vocal that aims to imitate the AI's voice as it warns humanity of its intentions."

Over the last few months, Mild West took 'Life Again' on the road, playing headline shows to crowds in the furthest stretches of New South Wales. During this time they also released 'Nightfall', an unexpected track that saw more elements of disco and synth-pop and got its first play on triple j Unearthed. 'Pompeii' comes as Mild West dials in to release their highly anticipated debut album, Machine Learning, out Friday 22 April.

Riding the momentum of their previous singles, the band has been praised by the likes of, The Revue, AIR and Rawing in The Pit. Known for their energetic, awe-inspiring live performances, Mild West were previously hand-chosen by triple j Unearthed to play Festival of the Sun. They have also shared the stage with some of Australia’s favourite acts at Byron Bay's renowned Falls Festival, and pre-COVID were selected to support Ruby Fields on her 2019 national tour.

'Pompeii' is out EVERYWHERE now.
