Fiji-born, Melbourne-based progressive rock guitarist and songwriter Narayan is pleased to reveal his new, heavy groove-driven single ‘Disconnection’, the second of a trio of tracks that will feature on forthcoming instrumental EP, ‘The Reptile Mind’. With insistent, punchy staccato riffs, gracefully explosive drums and thick, crunchy bass lines, the meditative chaos of ‘Disconnection’ is guided by Narayan’s precise guitar talk over fluid synth lines, lifting the thought-provoking nature of the track. Commenting on the emotional aspect of ‘Disconnection’, Narayan says: “[The track] is about feeling a lingering sense of social displacement as an individual, regardless of what geography one belongs to or shifts towards”. ‘The Reptile Mind’ was recorded at Rangemaster in Melbourne and was mixed/mastered by Forrester Savell & David Carr. Narayan’s forthcoming EP ‘The Reptile Mind’ explores 3 instrumental tracks of rhythmic, technical, guitar-driven confusion that dissects the reptile mind inside us all.

Discussing the theme of the EP, Narayan says: “I wanted to create an instrumental, micro-trilogy about being a passenger in the seat of your emotions with your mind tuned to survival mode, during today’s era of seemingly unknown variables” ‘Disconnection’ follows Narayan’s debut single ‘Fight Friend Flee’, released in April, 2021.
