NEWCASTLE-BASED SOUL FUSION BAND ‘HEY JAN’ RELEASE DEBUT EP - ‘ANYWHERE’

Hey Jan

Newcastle-based R&B Soul-Pop fusion band, Hey Jan are finally here with their Debut EP – ‘Anywhere’ set to release November 13th across all platforms. Consisting of Zoe Hallam-Meyn (Vocals), Matt Kellahan (Keys), Tom Lee (Bass) and Connor Ritchie (Drums), the band are ready for the world to hear what they’ve been working on.

With Jazz undertones and the distinctive voices of Zoe Hallam (Female raspy soul voice along the lines of Janis Joplin and Amy Winehouse) and Matt Kellahan (Clean male vocals quite familiar to Shawn Mendes and John Legend), the EP transitions between melancholy ballads such as Hello January to upbeat danceable tracks such as Easily. This EP will take you on an emotional journey of love and emotions.

Anywhere touches on the realistic situation that love is, it’s a journey that is perfectly captured within the EP. Easily settles the EP, with the realisation that true love isn’t something that just happens overnight, it’s something that needs

“I can’t get enough of the way my name, it rolls right off your tongue. And you get the better of me. But I know what’s worth it won’t come easily” (Easily)

This EP everything that the Australian music scene has been missing, smooth indie soul tunes with flawless vocals and gorgeous harmonies. Hey Jan are  set to follow up this release with a sold out show at the Stag and Hunter Hotel in Newcastle on Friday the 13th of November. There is nothing quite like Hey Jan and the band are so excited to finally have this release out in the world.

Listen to Anywhere on Spotify. Hey Jan · Single · 2020 · 4 songs.

“Between University classes and exams, we would jam together, which eventually led to the creation of the EP’s first 2 tracks: ‘Shades of Blue’, a soulful song delving into the light and shade of romantic relationships; and ‘Sarah’s Jacket’, a bubbly fusion piece to bop along to. ‘Hello January’ is the most intimate track on the EP, between the creaks of piano, to the layering of vocals, this is a song to get you in your feels. The last song of the EP is ‘Easily’, the band’s favourite song to perform (and where the EP Title came from)” – Zoe Hallam
