Today, Melbourne pop punk band PAPERWEIGHT release their new single Whisper Games.

Whisper Games
was produced By Stevie Knight (Stand Atlantic, With Confidence, Yours Truly, Between You And Me) and mixed and mastered by Dave Petrovic (Tonight Alive)

In the famed footsteps of Blink 182 and New Found Glory, the pop punk upstarts have also dropped a cheeky and colourful video for the single, which pokes fun at social media posers.

Whisper Games shows PAPERWEIGHT's song-writing growth in the short time they have been together. Combing elements of the previously mentioned pop punk titans that blazed the path, PAPERWEIGHT have created their own modern blend with the end result being a catchy, infectious and melodic anthem which will no doubt win the band over a whole new army of fans.

"Whisper Games is a song about valuing authenticity. All too often we tend to compare ourselves to others in a negative light whilst not releasing most of what we see is disconnected from reality - the "highlights reel" of social media is an impossible standard.
This song was written about valuing what is real, the good, the bad and everything in between - because, at the end of the day, what will be remembered is the things that make you who you are, not the things you pretend to be" singer Haris Dillinger

Paperweight have just signed a deal with Australian alternative scene’s premier management company, Open Door Management (Northlane, Make Them Suffer, Void Of Vision)

‘"I am so excited to be working with these incredibly switched on, talented young legends! PAPERWEIGHT are the closest thing to the real deal nostalgic American pop punk but with a uniquely Aussie twist. It’s a fresh breath of air to be working with and helping develop the career of these new punks on the block’  Roy Amar - Open Door Management

"When I first heard PAPERWEIGHT's music it took me back to the 90’s pop punk explosion of not taking yourself seriously, great choruses and a fun live show. For such a young band It was a no brainer to come on board and help take them to the next level globally. ‘Whisper Games’ is the tip of the iceberg and we can’t wait to unleash the next chapter!” Chris O’Brien – Open Door Management

The band have also announced their headline single launch in Melbourne promote Whisper Games with a full Australian tour to be announced shortly. Show details below.

ABOUT PAPERWEIGHT

Not many bands can say they were forged in the fires of a global pandemic, but that’s exactly the origin story behind Melbourne pop-punk shooting stars, PAPERWEIGHT.

These four youngsters crashed onto the scene in May of 2020 with their debut single ‘Waster’, and in eight short months have amassed over 30K streams on Spotify, notched up multiple spins across triple jUnearthed radio and Triple M Hard N Heavy, garnered rave reviews from key rock music tastemakers, and caught the attention of the Australian alternative scene’s premier management company, Open Door Management (Northlane, Make Them Suffer, Void Of Vision).

That’s all before playing a single live show, mind you - a feat basically unheard of in the rock music business.

PAPERWEIGHT features the talents of rhythm guitarist Luana Tosti-Guerra and drummer Basil February, two childhood friends from inner city Melbourne who team with vocalist Haris Dillinger and Ballarat-based lead guitarist Tom Ballinger to create an energetic, nostalgic blend of pop-punk music. Sonically, the band draws inspiration from the summery, American Warped Tour sounds of New Found Glory, Neck Deep and The Story So Far, but with a fresh, genre-bending and uniquely Australian twist.

PAPERWEIGHT head into 2021 with their guitars set to stun, the might of manager Roy Amar and the Open Door team in their corner, their first ever live show (a headliner) locked in for March and a debut EP on the way.

And if their noteworthy defiance of 2020’s hoodoo is anything to go by, it’s going to be a monumental year ahead for these new punks on the block.

Paperweight are
Luana Tosti-Guerra (Guitar)
Haris Dillinger (Vocals)
Tom Ballinger (Guitar)
Basil February (Drums)
