Brisbane-based singer-songwriter Paulina has just revealed her poignant new cut ‘Lonely Drives’ – produced and mixed at The Animal Farm Studios in London.
‘Lonely Drives’ opens with firm piano octaves and haunting vocals, with underlying palm-muted guitars keeping the track at a steady pace before it crescendos into an impassioned chorus guided by tight drums and vibrant guitar chords. The song’s dynamics and texture swell and compliment Paulina’s lyrical themes, as she sings about the ruthlessness of anxiety, and finding solitude within mindfulness.
Paulina talks about the meaning behind ‘Lonely Drives’:
“’Lonely Drives’ addresses how cruel your mind can be sometimes, how anxious and upset you can often feel and how mad you can be at the world for things not going the preferred or ‘right’ way. However, this song then also expresses the true beauty of simply going on drives, alone. Being alone, is the most beautiful thing you can do, to sit with and acknowledge your feelings, but also to then let go of them and look forward to what’s next in life, in this case, letting yourself go and driving wherever you truly desire.”

Born in Germany and raised in Queensland, Paulina is quickly showing her capability to write uniquely emotive songs, capturing the true essence of her songwritring subjects in her purest performances, taking cues from luminaires Jorja Smith and Amy Shark.
