Following the head-turning release of power track, 'Angel (Wash It Away)’, Elysaé gives us the first peak at her more vulnerable and personal self, both musically and lyrically with ‘Love Was Child’s Play’. Co-produced by Luke Carra (Caravãna Sun) and Ian Prichett (Angus & Julia Stone, Kim Churchill), the indie-folk track is currently a semi finalist in the Listen Up Songwriting Prize for 2021 and is the third and final single from her debut EP.
“Life is complex. It’s filled with trials and tribulations. Often we are overcome with feelings of doubt and insecurity. But then you have these moments... moments of presence... in the company of people who love you... and all of that fades away. Even if just for that moment, everything becomes easy. It’s like love was child’s play.”
Built upon a bouncy bass line, the track is filled with dancing melodies, atmospheric guitars and personal lyrics that take you through the process of letting down your guard with a loved one. From stripped back and intimate verses, to wide open and ethereal choruses, the feel good tune sonically captures the playful nature of love and the feeling of releasing insecurity. The song’s climax takes place in the form of dancing countermelodies and will leave you floating in a sea of joy and peace.
