POP QUEEN DANII SHOWS VULNERABLE SONGWRITING AND BELTING VOCALS ON DEBUT EP 'I'
In a world that often pushes us into a box, Brisbane-based pop artist Danii Brassington dares to break the status quo with her release of her unapologetically honest debut EP I. In writing the EP, Danii challenged herself to produce her most unfiltered work and portray an honest expression of her emotions, from the highs to the lows. '"I' is a vulnerable collection of songs that I have written over the past three to four years that represent my innermost thoughts, life experiences and a journey from innocence and self-doubt, turning into empowerment, and rediscovering self-love and self-worth. Sometimes it can be quite dark and confronting, but is exactly how it is in my head and that is how I wanted to present it to the world."
With the creation of these songs all stemming from the inside of Danii's house, day to day living spaces such as her bedroom and her living room floor became the birthplace for the fiery pop ballads that would come together to form I. The majority of these songs were recorded and produced in studios across Brisbane (Kiosk Records, Elysian Studios) and several home studios as well, Danii employed a variety of producers (Harry Fox, PJ Tamati) to help bring the songs to life.
Her largest body of work to date, I sees Danii combine heavy electro-pop instrumentals with a deep lyricism giving the listener an inside into the inner working of Danii's mind, both the good and the bad."My new track 'Breathe' shows how I am recognising the need for self-love after a long period of neglect at the mercy of putting others first. And other new track 'Never Enough' is my first ever co-written track with Harry Wells from Kiosk Records exploring what it’s like when you start to recognise your value and begin to love yourself more than someone who isn’t stepping up and isn’t meeting your needs."
Taking influences from a variety of artists such as Amy Lee (Evanescence), and several early 2000’s hard rock acts, to more pop style artists such as BANKS and the Weeknd, Danii creates an incredibly bold pop sound which is uniquely her own that forces the listener to be engaged with the track. With several live performances under her belt such as opening for Damien Johnson, 'I' sees Danii begin to really evolve and makes her album release show at Black Bear Lodge on July the 21st a must see!
