POPPY SHARES NEW SINGLE AND VIDEO "SO MEAN"
Today, Poppy has shared “So Mean,” the third single & music video for her upcoming full length Flux, set for release September 24 via Sumerian Records.
Brimming with a barrage of blisteringly sunny vocal melodies woven around a myriad of saturated guitars, “So Mean” is another stunning exemplar of the latest stage in Poppy’s ever-evolving songwriting. Her kaleidoscopic vision was brought into brighter, warmer focus than ever through the efforts of the album’s producer Justin Meldal-Johnsen (M83, Deafheaven, St. Vincent), who had the band record live to tape.
The new single comes paired with a performance clip directed by Poppy, a tantalising teaser for her long-awaited new album.
2021 has already proved to be a monolithic year for Poppy, kicking off with a stunning GRAMMY performance in March (on the heels of her nomination for Best Metal Performance, making her the first solo female artist ever nominated in the category), her global livestream event The Last Disagreement in April, the May release of her cover of Jack Off Jill’s “Fear of Dying,” the June release of previous album single “Her” (which arrived paired with an instantly iconic video by stop motion animator/director Chris Ullens), and multiple appearances on WWE NXT, the most recent of which culminated with her announcing the surprise drop of a new five song EP, EAT - NXT SOUNDTRACK, released in a special partnership between the WWE and Sumerian Records. On top of it all she recently struck up a partnership with Viktor and Rolf as the face of their blockbuster fragrance Flowerbomb with L’Oreal, and recently announced a collaborative line of shoes with Koi Footwear.
