“Potion’s Heaviness rating is spiked sharply upwards and the grooves will send you reeling as if caught in a wind tunnel.” - Cvltnation

MARCH 26TH Australian stoner doom trio, POTION released their new EP ‘Oath to Flame’ today on Bandcamp and all digital streaming platforms with a 10” vinyl release due later in the year through Black Farm Records. The long awaited follow up to 2018’s ‘Women of the Wand’, ‘Oath to Flame’ is two tracks of smoke-drenched psychedelic doom that each push the 8-minute mark recorded at Chameleon Studios, Sydney.

Aside from appearances on Two Minutes to Late Night’s bedroom cover series, ‘Oath to Flame’ was birthed during a 2020 without shows or activity with the band spending most of the year locked down writing for their forthcoming debut album. Singer/guitarist Lee Jowono said of the release, “After almost a year of being stuck inside doing nothing but playing guitar and checking the news, it felt right to record these songs that were originally meant for the album and let them sort of be a snapshot of a uniquely strange and isolating time”.

Potion was formed in 2017 and combine high-viscosity riffs with tormented, throat-tearing vocals and swords 'n’ sorcery inspired lyrics. Revolver named Potion an ‘Artist you need to know’ in 2018 and the band has carved out a solid reputation earning support slots for the likes of Arch Enemy, Eyehategod, Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats, Conan and a spot on a national Australian tour with King Parrot and Phil Anselmo & the Illegals in 2019.
