Sydney-based alternative-rock trio RADICALS have just revealed their gigantic new track ‘i hate myself’ – produced by Daniel Antix at Def Wolf Studios (SCABZRaised As Wolves).

Erupting with roaring distorted guitars and booming drums, ‘i hate myself’ is a cathartic slice of sincere grunge, led by the magnetic yet sorrowful vocals of lead singer Brandon Wade. As the track unfolds, the soaring choruses momentarily make way for a foreboding but tender bridge before the full-bore final chorus thunders towards its chaotic yet satisfying ending.

Brandon talks about the meaning behind ‘i hate myself’:

“It’s about really not being happy with yourself, whether it be your actions, the way you look or the way you feel, and sometimes not even knowing why you feel this way. I think it’s something a lot of people can relate to at some point in their lives. The song tackles depression, anxiety, body dysmorphia, literally anything that makes you doubt or feel bad about yourself. But as with most things there is light at the end of the tunnel, you just have to hang in there to see it. I guess if there’s one thing to take away from this song, it’s that ‘It’s okay not to be okay sometimes’.”

To coincide with the release, the band will perform several shows across Australia’s east coast, including stops at The Rhythm Hut in GosfordGreaser Bar and O’Skulligans in Brisbane. This continues on from the group selling out headline shows across NSW and the Gold Coast, including at The LansdowneOxford Art Factory and Vinnies Dive Bar, and supporting homegrown favourites Ruby FieldsLOSER and The Dead Love.

RADICALS consists of Brandon Wade, Myles Harrison and Nick Karim, three school friends who are quickly garnering a reputation for their loud and energetic live sets. While only in their infancy, RADICALS have quickly created their own unique blend of alternative rock and grunge, taking cues from luminaires SilverchairThe Vines and Nirvana.

In the coming weeks, RADICALS will reveal an accompanying music video for ‘i hate myself’.
