Already boasting an imposing catalogue of covers from the likes of RVG x Julia JacklinAmyl & The SniffersGregor x Sweet Whirl and more, the latest serving in RISING SINGLES CLUB’s specially commissioned celestial-covers series has arrived, and this time, they’ve offered up a daring take on The Kinks timeless 1966 number ‘Not Like Everybody Else’ from Melbourne’s scorching rock’n’roll supergroup, ROT T.V.

Since their formation in 2019, ROT T.V have firmly staked their claim in Melbourne’s gritty-rock underground. Torchbearers of abrasive and eruptive rock and featuring members of notorious punk outfits Miss DestinyDeaf Wish, Rabid DogsAnnihilation Time and Lecherous GazeROT T.V take influences from a smattering of rock’n’roll greats, like Chuck Berry, Blue Oyster Cult and The Damned, and transform into something new, and distinctly their own.

Despite their blistering back-catalogue, ROT T.V have pulled it back a notch for their RISING SINGLES CLUB reimagining, delivering a fuzz-drenched, garage-rock twist on The Kinks’ original, with frontwoman Harriet Hudson-Clise's gutsy vocals adding significant weight to Ray Davies’ rebellious storytelling.

For the new single, the band enlisted the help of their long-term engineer, producer and founder of Collingwood's Sauna Studios Rob Muiños to handle lead-guitar duties, who according to Hudson-Clise, helped shaped the single's overall sound.

"Rob was definitely a huge part in how nice and cruisy it sounds - he likes to take things down a notch and reminds us to stop playing everything too fast like maniacs," Hudson-Clise reflects.

"Covers are tricky territory and the best you can hope for is that you don’t butcher a classic song and I don’t think we did. My parents love it, which hopefully means other OG Kinks fans will dig it too."

ROT T.V's cover of 'I'm Not Like Everybody Else' is the latest in RISING: SINGLES CLUB, a series of specially commissioned, celestial tunes, released under the light of a full moon.
