Radiating with a wholesome, happy-go-lucky attitude that shines through in their indie-imbued style of enchanting country music, adored WA indie/ folk/ country-rock outfit The Little Lord Street Band are returning with ‘High Beams’ (out Friday, Oct 22).
Announcing ‘High Beams’ as the first single from their forthcoming sophomore album, The Little Lord Street Band have been attracting attention, and accolades, since their humble beginnings, with releases like WAM Song Of The Year award-winner ‘Maybe I’m Just In Love’ and 2020 debut album ‘A Minute of Another Day’.
Now, TLLSB brings their poignant storytelling and feel-good country-folk to their new single ‘High Beams’, exploring the futility of life through the narration of a near-death experience.
Starting the journey in full gear, the song speeds ahead with the crisp twang of sun-kissed electric guitars, accented with moody layers alongside the warming country tones of James Rogers. Joined by Natasha Shanks’ distinctive kicking vocal to create ear-tingling harmonies, the good times continue to roll as upbeat percussive elements refuse to miss a beat, particularly in the big, highway-worthy choruses.
Pelted throughout the track, strong electric guitar layers peak and valley, using authentic country-style string bending techniques to deliver that quintessential twang, as a toe-tapping guitar solo brings this road trip to its destination.
Familiar with long-distance journeys across the unforgiving Australian countryside, TLLSB have stayed true to the band’s fun-loving verve with a two-stepping groove and happy ending as they toast to all the bands on the road who may have come across some close calls of their own. Jimmy Rogers states:
“‘High Beams’ is about a near-death experience that one assumes when confronted by another driver not turning their high beam lights off when driving at night on country roads, and the thoughts that would go through one’s head when faced by a blinding oncoming light.”
As well as releasing new single ‘High Beams’, TLLSB are hitting the road for their WA Tour, playing at choice venues across the state, from now until mid-December.
