If I had to tell you what my favourite track of 2020 so far is, it would hands down be this one! “Cherub” is the brand new song from Brisbane melancholic pop band Ball Park Music. I have to be honest though, I had never heard of this band until reviewing this track and from the first notes of the guitars, I became obsessed. The fact that I had never heard of a band that makes such incredible music will baffle me for a long time.

“Cherub” starts off with the sweet and peaceful sounds of a guitar followed by the mellow vocals from vocalist Sam Cromack. These vocals accompanied by the guitars are heavenly. You can just close your eyes and be hit by a wave of emotion.

The soft backup vocals enter in after the verse and it fits so well as it adds a depth to the sound that is stunning. A huge highlight of this song is one hundred percent the vocals which are incredible and create such an amazing atmosphere to it that throws out this euphoric feeling. The instruments and the vocal melodies blended together are something else, so mellow and somewhat calming. Towards the end the instruments are so powerful as synth sounds help build the tension up and then we get the hard hitting drums and fuzzed guitars as the track then fades out.

I could talk about this song all day and everything that makes it so great. This band are incredible at what they do and with their new album close to being released I’m sure this track has fans incredibly excited for the next chapter of this band. All in all the sound of this track is beautiful and I’m sure anyone who listens to it will fall in love with it.
