Song Review - The Bifters - Queen of Machine
REVIEW BY: JADE GUIDA
The Bifters are undeniably unique. In. every. Way. Possible.
This trio are like underground cult icons since storming the scene in 2020. If there are two things, I love it is a good fusion and a concept. The Bifters deliver on both. The Bifters have a unique sound, somewhere between Queens of the Stone Age and Black Sabbath. A melting pot of Doom and new age rock with a spicy twist of their own creativity thrown in the mix.
I love a concept album.
I love them.
I don’t know why, they just appeal to my deep seeded need for order and consistency so I was already a fan but my god when I delved a little deeper in to this I was blown away at the way the band has approached their ‘Reefer Madness’ Album. Each Single has its own artwork and I must comment that they are cool AF.
“Queen of Machine” both art and sound will disrupt your equilibrium. This track is earth shatteringly good. If this sets the tone for what the band is capable of releasing, buckle up. This is a kinetic blend of velvety vocals, doom undertones and a fast paced and vibrant rock finish. The track is energetic and impassioned. Don’t let the explosive sound fool you, this is some clever musicianship.
This band can write big tunes and they balance that delicately with writing technically sound and lyrically thoughtful pieces. The song explores societies current trend of quickly barreling towards self-quarantine, isolation, and the technology obsession and how Mother Nature is the cure. It is clever. I love this track. I want to see it live in all its glory. The Bifters are a band to watch out for in the coming months and this track is a summer playlist must have.
Sydney cult icons in the making, The Bifters Band, have worked tirelessly throughout the latest lockdown to create their debut album ‘Reefer Madness’. Recorded at Def Wolf Studios under the guidance of producer George Georgiadis.
‘Queen of Machine’ is a frenetic explosion of high velocity rock' n roll. The fast paced, driving guitar, vibrant bass licks and impassioned drum patterns make it the perfect edition to a rockin' summer playlist. Lyrically the song depicts an increasingly mechanical world of self-quarantine and screen obsession that will ultimately be cured by the supreme power of mother nature .
After all she is our ‘Queen of the Machine’.
