Sports - ‘Baby Baby’ - Single Review
REVIEW BY: Maddie Kasyan
US based indie dream-pop power duo Sports are back on the rise with their latest single ‘Baby Baby,’ and let me tell you it’s an eclectic and beautiful listen. It’s their second release of 2020, following ‘Tell You Something,’ which is Baby Baby’s younger, funk-infused sister with a dreamy vibe.
One half of the band, Cale Chronister, explained that the song is about codependency of emotions on someone else’s – which we’ve all been guilty of at one point or another. The lyric “Oh baby, baby, I guess I don’t know how to try” says it best about failing to console another.
With almost haunting visuals, the music video provides whimsical scenes and an absolutely stunning wardrobe. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself missing a lost love, the utopian illustrations make you feel melancholic while lost in a beautiful world. This band has done a stunning job of combining their song about emotional codependency with a beautiful and nostalgic video.
Sports is like if Tame Impala and MGMT morphed into a two-person dream team, and their future couldn’t be brighter.
