Teenage Joans - Something About Being Sixteen - Song Review

REVIEW BY: EMERALD VIOLET

TEENAGE JOANS.jpg

It’s a huge year already for Adelaide based band Teenage Joans as they came in at number 87 in Triple J’s hottest 100 with their track “Three Leaf Clover”, with only having won the Triple J Unearthed High contest last year. All this is not bad for a band who only had two releases under their belt and now they are now coming in hot with a brand new track titled “Something About Being Sixteen” which they describe as one of the best songs they’ve ever written.

The track itself reminds me of something that would be released back in the year 2000 as it throws off those kinds of vibes but it’s mixed with some pop punk chords and drum beats to create this fun, fast paced track which I dig a lot. You can hear the passion in the vocals throughout the whole song and with the appealing lyrics - it will catch your attention. It’s the perfect track to add to any playlist and all around just a great track to listen to.

It would be an understatement to say that this band is a band to watch out for as they have accomplished some amazing things in such a short time. There’s no denying that they are gonna go far with their incredible ability to create such catchy and addictive songs and i’m sure everyone can agree that they can’t wait to hear more from these guys.
