Mushroom Labels Receive 12 Nominations For 2021 ARIA Awards

Mushroom labels are very pleased to announce the nominations for this year’s ARIA Awards. The Mushroom group has received 12 nominations across 6 artists.

Leading the nominations is Vance Joy with 5 Nominations, Best Artist, Best Pop Release, Best Independent Release, Best Video and Song of The Year

‘Missing Piece' is a platinum selling single and made it to #14 on the ARIA Singles Chart, #3 on the National Airplay Chart, #17 on Spotify's Top 200 and Top 10 on Apple Music's Top 100. It was #1 on Billboard's AAA Charts in the US and is currently Top 5 on the Alternative Charts. Vance Joy is one Australia’s finest contemporary singer-songwriters, amassing over 3.2 billion streams to his name, and two #1 Australian albums, 2014’s dream your life away and 2018’s Nation of Two. He has been the recipient of two ARIA Awards (Best Male and Best Adult Contemporary Album) and 36 x platinum accreditations across ten singles including his breakout hit ‘Riptide’, which is currently 12 x platinum.

Following on from his induction into the ARIA Hall of Fame last year, Archie Roach has been nominated for Best Blues & Roots and Best Independent Release with the reimagining of his acclaimed debut album The Songs Of Charcoal Lane. The music legend, Stolen Generations survivor and 2020 Victorian Australian Of The Year, Archie Roach AM, celebrated the 30 year anniversary of his debut album Charcoal Lane with the release of The Songs Of Charcoal Lane, recorded at his kitchen table in southwest Victoria in 2019.

The pop princess that is Kylie Minogue is nominated for Best Adult Contemporary and Best Artist for her Australian & UK chart topping album DISCO, her 7th Australian number one album. Kylie also holds the record for the most ARIA #1 albums by an Australian female artist, and 80 million albums sold worldwide. Recently Kylie released another pop anthem, ‘A Second To Midnight’, co-written and recorded with the brilliant Years & Years. She will release the Guest List Edition of DISCO on November 12.

Tasmania’s A.Swayze & the Ghosts have been nominated for Best Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Album for their blistering debut Paid Salvation. A record that restores your faith in the incendiary, uplifting and subversive power of punk rock, Paid Salvation was A&R’d by the late, great Pete Lusty. Recorded in Northcote with producer Dean Tuza the album pulls absolutely no punches, using the group’s urgent and tightly wound music as a backdrop against which frontman Andrew Swayze purges himself of the myriad frustrations he has with the world around him.

Local Blues powerhouses Josh Teskey & Ash Grunwald came together for the release of Push The Blues Away, which has been nominated for Best Blues & Roots Album. Recorded entirely live and straight to tape with their only percussion consisting of gospel inspired hand claps and stomps, the pair laid down seven original tunes, some penned by Josh, some by Ash, along with two classic Blues covers, creating an album born out of a mutual love for the blues and a genuine appreciation for each other’s talents.

The Teskey Brothers are nominated for Best Australian Live Act. Following their #1 ARIA chart-topping LP, Live At The Forum, one of the Countries most revered live acts played 2 headline shows at Forum Melbourne, embarked on the Summersalt Festival tour and appeared at WOMAD Festival. Their next live show will be a special one, with Orchestra Victoria at Sidney Myer Music Bowl on Saturday January 22, 2022.

Congratulations to all the nominated artists.
