Today Jarryd James releases his long-awaited second album P.M. to rave reviews both in Australia and overseas. P.M. is available in digital and limited-edition pink vinyl format from here.

Released in tandem with the new video for closing track and single ‘Overdue’, the track features 22-year old Wisconsin rapper Trapo but is a group effort that encapsulates everything Jarryd loves about making music. Those woozy first bars are the product of a happy accident with Malay, with Trapo bringing the track to its thrilling conclusion over beats by Toronto Producer FrancisGotHeat (Drake, Travis Scott).

Trapo says he "wrote this verse fresh out of high school, so much has happened since then, and it’s times like these where I get to revise the importance of expressing yourself at a young age, Good Job Trap."

Jarryd says “Overdue is my favourite track on the album. The city of Los Angeles can be a strange place for an introvert from Brisbane. Keeping pretty unusual hours and not really looking after myself took its toll. We slowly started to make a piece of music while I drank some gin, and we made what I think is my favourite thing I’ve ever made. FrancisGotHeat sent back the flipped version of the beat that you hear at the end which made it perfect for a feature. We put the feelers out and came across Trapo, an insanely talented young rapper from Wisconsin. After one listen to his album Oil Change I knew he was the dude for it. Honestly, I thought he would do 16 bars which I would have been stoked with, but he went ahead and murdered the entire section that we sent him. Blew my mind when I heard it for the first time. “

The video for Overdue was shot and directed by Aaron Bull (Hooligan Hefs, Manu Crooks, Spenny14) and Trapo sent over his footage shot on the streets of Wisconsin to mirror Jarryd's shots. Aaron says "After my first listen to Overdue I knew the visuals would be based around the spacey sound rather than a structured concept. My goal was to portray Jarryd’s feeling of being trapped in a place that he didn’t feel comfortable. I kept him as the only subject to help create that isolated feeling and the long exposure cutaway shots to show a sense of anxiety and confusion."

P.M. is an album of deeply seductive R&B tracks, written at nighttime when Jarryd could eliminate all distractions and let music consume him completely. To help articulate the sounds that were keeping Jarryd awake at night, he handpicked a list of producers including Clams Casino (A$AP Rocky, Vince Staples), Malay Ho (Frank Ocean, John Legend, Alicia Keys) FrancisGotHeat (Drake, Travis Scott) and Joel Little (Khalid, Lorde). P.M. was recorded in studios in Los Angeles, Nicaragua, Brisbane, Auckland and New York with Jarryd playing all the instruments on the album.

‘Overdue’ comes straight off the bat of Jarryd’s last single 'Miracles', which was played across BBC Radio 1 and added to Spotify’s New Music Friday in 9 countries, New Music Daily in 7 countries and New in Alternative in 85 countries.

To date, Jarryd’s had more than 480-million streams, an ARIA top 5 album and two multi-platinum selling singles, with his break-out single ‘Do You Remember’ recently announced as the 4th most Shazamed song in Australia for the past decade.
