Mvlholland shares 'Chicago' new single and video out now

Byron-based singer-songwriter and multi-talented artist Mvlholland (Grace Mullholland) today shares new single ‘Chicago’. Chronicling a tale of love and heartache, there’s a quiet confidence in Mvlholland’s sweet and delicate delivery, an indication that learning to move forward can lead to self-discovery and a type of independence you didn’t know existed. It’s an intimate and honest take on some of the most common shared human experiences and emotions. Recorded alongside frequent collaborator, producer and pal Lachaln Bostock (of Mansionair), ‘Chicago’, and the accompanying Charlotte Wighton directed music video, is out everywhere now.

Mvlholland shares: “Chicago is about a love that you’ve lost but know you won’t forget. About all of the little things that lead to the end but you never paid any attention to. The moments that are gone, both lived and forgotten, the things you know will be stuck in your head a lot longer than intended and the feeling that it was all you. I think every heartbreak has a period of time that’s like this, where everything you ever said is questioned and you wonder if one thing had been different, would they still have chosen to go? Chicago is about learning to live in loss and trying to discover a new side of you that you didn’t know existed.”

Serving to cement her status as one of the country’s most exciting up and comers, ‘Chicago’ follows the release of sophomore single ‘But I Like It’, and its predecessor (and Mvlholland’s debut release) ‘83’, which won praise from new fans and media alike including triple j (both tracks were added to spot rotation), 10 Magazine, Pilerats and Life Without Andy, all of which tipped the young artist as one to watch. The singles also earned placement in a number of coveted playlists across Spotify (New Music Friday, Pop N Fresh, The Local List), Apple Music (New Music Daily, A List Pop, Breaking Pop), Amazon (Brand New Music), and YouTube (ANZ Spotlight, Released).

Mvlholland is only just beginning, stay tuned for what’s next.

ABOUT MVLHOLLAND

Grace Mulholland grew up between New York, L.A, London and Australia before her family settled in Bali. She first began writing songs and singing at age 11. Soon, acting would pique her interest and she’d immerse herself in characters before realising that fitting someone else’s idea wasn’t as fun as taking control of her own narrative and molding it into new shapes. Grace says: “I realised I could write my own music and I could make my own perfect role and I could do it all”. Her parents – a model and hairdresser who she says, “lived the full nineties New York rockstar life” before she came along – have always provided endless encouragement and plenty of inspiration. Living in Bali, the family continually had people coming and staying in the house. Those visitors included Divinyls frontwoman Chrissy Amphlett, who taught Grace to sing I Touch Myself at age five. Grace adds: “I was around very influential and powerful musicians and it just kinda made me feel like it wasn’t impossible”.
