Hailing from NSW’s Central Coast, 17-year-old Niamh Watson has developed her own unique blend of electronica and dark-pop. Today she unveils the raw and honest ‘Talking To The Devil’ - her second track under the moniker NEAV.

The track walks you through an intimate and personal recount of her emotions and the journey to reclaim power over a toxic influence.“Talking to the Devil’ is about the hardship faced when someone attempts to constrict the growth of love and relationships for jealous means. The song explores the situation from the perspective of the victim and expresses the strength you can gain from maintaining the moral high ground and not falling to the perpetrator’s level.”

‘Talking To The Devil’ was produced and mixed by Jesse Deskovic (King Princess, Thelma Plum) with Tahlia Coleman (Electric Fields, Csöke, Mirrah) mastering at Studios 301, Sydney. “Because the song is loosely based on personal events, it was very therapeutic to write. The song came together very quickly over the course of one evening and I knew straight away that I wanted it to be recorded and released. I got the opportunity to work with Jesse Deskovic in Studios 301 through winning ‘The Songwriting Prize 2020’ run by the amazing mental health charity, Listen Up Music. It was great fun to take the track from its basic acoustic form to its now dramatic dark-pop sound.” NEAV

Already signed to boutique indie label Double Drummer (Greta Stanley, Cousin Tony's Brand New Firebird, Emma Swift) and ORiGIN Publishing (Gotye, Megan Washington), NEAV is at the beginning of what is undoubtedly going to be a fruitful and exciting career.

A prolific songwriter, Niamh took out the top prize in the Pop/Contemporary category of 'The Australian Songwriting Awards 2020' run by the Australian Songwriters Association and received a coveted nomination for the 'APRA AMCOS/ASA Songwriter of the Year.' She was also the recipient of the 'The Songwriting Prize 2020' a national competition run by leading music mental health charity Listen Up.
