Riding his own wave of rock and dark-pop, Melbourne singer and multi-instrumentalist Chris Watts returns with his new single ‘Lick It’. A perfect late night jam, the track is rich in inspiration from artists such as The Weeknd, Shawn Mendes and 5SOS.
Says Chris of his new single, “It was my last recording session day in LA before I flew home. I met Aron Forbes (Billie Eilish & Finneas Music Director). He started playing this heavy dirty bass riff and I started singing over it. Over the next 30 min, all the lyrics started to fall into place. After I cut the first vocals (Which are the ones that ended up on final master) we played it all back. We turned to each other knowing that this tune really did have something special about it.”
Working on the visuals to the single with James Vlahogiannis & Nick Rieve at Blackwood Studios in Melbourne, Chris created, directed and edited the video for ‘Lick It’.
“I've always loved directing my own clips. I can see the video in my head even when I'm writing the music. The music video to me is an extension of the song, so it's hard for me to let someone else create it when I've already got a visual in my head. I hope people enjoy this cheeky arty video! It's my favorite to date!”

Since 2015, Chris Watts has been making waves in the music industry. He’s featured on the iconic ‘MTV Brand New’ which boasts alumni such as Sam Smith, Anne Marie and Conrad Sewell. 2016 saw the young artist release ‘Wrong or Right (feat. Amy Sheppard)’ of ARIA Award-winning band Sheppard. Chris has supported the likes of Robbie Williams and Elton John, and last year released his breakout hit ‘Over U’ which was played across KISS Radio and The Hit Music Network.
To date, his music has achieved streaming stats of over 3million alone on Spotify. Chris Watts is managed by L.A.based team Lost Boy Management (Cxloe, Pinkish Blu, Carla Wehbe).
