Brisbane’s RINSE - aka Joe Agius - returns with 'Tamaryn (Wherever I Am)', the latest single from his forthcoming debut EP, 'Wherever I Am' out March 5.

Of the track, Agius says, “‘Tamaryn (Wherever I Am)’ was one of the first songs I wrote and recorded as RINSE and really started the ball rolling for this project. I wanted to write a love song that captured that feeling of falling hard for someone; how high and low it can make you feel at the same time, running into them at parties, talking to them online and not knowing if they feel the same way about you.”

The accompanying video, directed by Agius himself, was a labour of love, inspired by Y2K-era technology and Agius’ love of sci-fi shows and films like Star Trek and The Fifth Element.

“I built and painted the walls and nearly every object featured in each room (courtesy of Facebook marketplace) over a couple of weeks, while the 3D animation was created by Jackson Phillips and Skye Skye,” he says.

“I wanted the video to encapsulate what it’s like being stuck inside your own head when you are totally infatuated with somebody. Whether you're wondering what they are doing or feeling, or you're just going through life's motions until you can see them again.”

Along with 'Tamaryn (Wherever I Am)', RINSE’s debut EP includes new offerings 'Without You' and 'What Hell I’m In.' It also includes the dreamy, heartfelt ballad 'Back Into Your Arms,' which notably features vocals by Agius’ real life romantic partner and fellow Australian artist, Hatchie. Early RINSE singles 'Tell Me Tell Me Tell Me' and 'Trust In Me' appear as bonus tracks.

With Agius squarely at its centre, RINSE features a rotating cast of collaborators and live members. Musically, it gravitates towards post-punk, shoegaze and new-wave sounds, influenced by artists such as New Order, Echo & The Bunnymen, The Cure and Pale Saints.
