After much anticipation, the Adelaide neo-psych rock group The Empty Threats have today released their greatly anticipated self-titled EP via PAK Music! Stream it HERE.
The EP, written and self-recorded in and out of lockdowns in South Australia during 2020, sees the five-piece (finalists in this year's SAM Awards) translate their powerful live sound into their most finely tuned, and thoughtful work to date. Mastered by Joe Carra at Crystal Mastering (King Gizz, The Murlocs, Amyl and the Sniffers, Pond, The Drones, Courtney Barnett, Tash Sultana), most of the songs are reflections on the conditions and suppression of art in Australia during the pandemic, touching on interpersonal dilemmas and struggling personal relationships that the band faced over the year.
Despite their east-coast EP tour being cancelled thanks to Australia's ongoing travel restrictions, The Empty Threats are forging ahead with the release of their new EP as growing local admiration for the band turns national, with thanks to Triple J play from Declan Byrne and regular rotation of their latest music video on ABC’s Rage.
2021 saw the Empties continue to develop their captivating stage presence, selling out headline shows for previous single releases ‘U’ at local favourite Jive venue and ‘K’ at Adelaide’s newest immersive and innovative venue The Lab. The group have also managed to perform at a number of iconic local venues across Adelaide throughout the year, including supporting Mildlife RCC Festival in the heart of Adelaide's CBD, headlining Thebarton Theatre's newest all local festival One12, and being selected for Music SA’s Scouted 2021 event; gaining traction within the local music scene and garnering devoted followers through their experimental, clarinet wielding rock.
In celebration of their work, The Empty Threats will be launching their highly-anticipated EP with a mini-festival at Adelaide’s award-winning Wundenberg’s Recording Studio on the 27th of November. In collaboration with Adelaide indie-label PAK Music, the group have organised a mini-festival, for those pining for the days of outdoor festivals to return. Showcasing local vendors as well as local music, with Pirate Life Brewing, Riot Wine Co., Imperial Measures Distillery, and Staazi & Co all joining the line-up along with local acts Ethanol Blend, Bermuda Bay, Placement and TWINE.
The Empty Threats’ self-titled EP is out now via PAK Music.
The EP is available on all streaming platforms and for vinyl orders online.
