Voye Releases Single 'Paint' featuring Matilda Duncan Alongside Expressive Music Video

Townsville's Indie-folk artist Voye is colouring the canvas with the delicate new single 'Paint' featuring beautiful harmonies from Matilda Duncan alongside the expressive visuals and story told through dance.

Exploring themes of heartache and hope, Voye's emotive brand of indie-folk and story-telling has been resonating with listeners at live shows since their debut EP 'Hummingbird' in 2019. Voye has recently shared those stories at shows supporting the likes of The Rubens, Birds Of Tokyo and Dan Baker. Voye is also set to support Tones And I on July 31 in Townsville at the Queensland Country Band Stadium.

With Voye's first follow up release since the EP, 'Paint' is a tranquil song with a lyrical melody that whisks away in the wind. With finger-picked guitar and traded vocal lines between frontman Shemah Appleton and Matilda Duncan, the heartfelt and passionate sensation in the song is reinforced and coloured by the accompanying drums, keys and electric guitar.

Lyrically, the reflective track is about resilience and coming together to move through confronting challenges and adversity. Appleton states:

"'Paint' is a song about how isolating painful experiences can be, but also how a shared experience of loss can break down our walls and people together in a really special way."

This is paralleled in the music video produced by Robert Crispe that features a compelling contemporary choreography from Felix Sampson (Dance North) - a choreography that is a physical representation of the internal struggle and pain confronted during dark moments of loneliness. While Appleton and Duncan share the low-lit stage, Sampson is seen alone in the audience watching –alongside numerous other sets– as he moves through his internal struggle with dance.

After attending Our Townsville Songwriting Workshop 2021 curated by Townsville City Council and Neighbourhood Productions, Voye's single 'Paint' was selected and offered support and several opportunities, including a special pre-release showcase at Our Townsville on the 6th of June.

'Paint ft Matilda Duncan' will be out everywhere on June 11 alongside the accompanying music video.
