Sydney-based garage-rock quartet Before the King have just released their vehement new single ‘Fast Machine’ – produced by ARIA-nominated Clayton Segelov (Shady Nasty, Antagonist A.D., Columbus).
Opening with thudding kick drums and rippling guitars, ‘Fast Machine’ is a ferocious slice of enigmatic rock and roll. As the track unfolds, the percussion builds with the introduction of staccato snares and splashing ride cymbals, guided by the dynamic delivery of lead singer Dean Smusko. The bridge provides a brief respite before a rollicking final chorus and teasing finale.
The band talk about the history behind the track:
“‘Fast Machine’ is the first song we ever wrote together, and through four recording sessions and countless iterations, it has remained a staple of our live set.”
Previous releases have been widely embraced by online blogs Blunt Mag, Beat Magazine, Scenestr and Australian radio tastemakers triple j Unearthed, FBi, 2SER, PBS FM and Aussie Music Weekly.
Since their inception, Before the King has continuously performed highly engaging live shows across Sydney’s inner-west. Outside of the musical realm, the band have also had a burrito from Beach Burrito named after them and raised money for organisations like anti-slavery non-profit The Freedom Hub.
In the coming weeks, Before the King will reveal an accompanying music video.
