The Lulu Raes - Unveil Mesmerising New Single 'Not For The Weekend'
SUPPORT FOR 'NOT FOR THE WEEKEND'
“Another signature high-octane tune to get the party started. These boys know how to put together a song which will put a smile on your face."
- The AU Review (AUS)
Following on from their critically praised single ‘Can’t Run No More’, Sydney-based indie-pop quintet The Lulu Raes have just revealed their joyous new single ‘Not For The Weekend’ – mixed by Dylan Adams (DMA’s, Skegss, West Thebarton).
‘Not For The Weekend’ is a glorious sun-soaked anthem, equal parts nostalgic and euphoric, and at times mirroring elements from luminaires Phoenix, Matt and Kim and Grouplove. Featuring hook-laden keyboard riffs, bouncing percussion and the captivating vocals of frontman Eddie Burton, the track sees The Lulu Raes at the peak of their songwriting prowess.
The Lulu Raes talk about the inspiration behind ‘Not For The Weekend’:
“When this song was first being written, it was written as a middle finger to someone who had decided it was time to move on with their life. Eventually, it morphed into self-reflection, and now it’s really a peace offering to that person. Hope you’re doing well.”
The Lulu Raes have consistently toured across Australia, selling out multiple headline tours, performing at Australian mainstays Falls Festival, FOTSUN and King Street Crawl, and sharing stages with the likes of Lime Cordiale, Dune Rats, DMA’s, Jamie XX and The Jungle Giants.
Previous releases have been widely embraced by the likes of Spotify and Australian radio stations triple j, triple j Unearthed, FBi, 4ZZZ, JOY FM, Bay FM, 2SER, Radio Adelaide and 2RRR. They’ve also seen support from online tastemakers Pilerats, Life Without Andy, Wickedd Childd and Monster Children.
In the coming weeks, The Lulu Raes will reveal an accompanying music video for ‘Not For The Weekend’.
