REVIEW BY: EM VIOLET

Jess Locke is a singer/songwriter from Melbourne who is no stranger when it comes to creating indie pop music and has just released a brand new track “Fool” along with a video and the announcement that she is joining Melbourne based label Dot Dash which is the same label that has acts such as Methyl Ethyl, Gena Rose Bruce and Carla Geneve.

The 3 minute track is jam packed with fuzzed chord progressions, solid drum beats, catchy melody and appealing lyrics. From the first note this song will capture you with the crashing sound of grunge guitars and the engaging vocals that hit you like a wave.

Locke knows how to write pleasing indie pop songs but has given us a new twist with this great mixture of indie and dirty grunge which is fresh and makes the song powerful. The song perfectly captures the real feeling of disappointment in people by the distinct lyrics and raw vocals.

The accompanying video fits in flawlessly with its simplicity and aesthetically pleasing colours that blend in well with the indie pop vibes.

After listening to this song once I caught myself singing it all day, it’s catchiness is bound to get stuck in your head and that’s just one reason why Jess Locke is certainly an artist to watch out for. This fresh and engaging track will have you excited for what’s to come next from this talented artist.
