Renforshort – 'Nostalgia (luvsick)' - Single Review
REVIEW BY: TARA CAMPBELL
Renforshort is one of the best up-and-coming artists this industry has to offer. At just 18, Ren is back at it again with the brilliant new release ‘nostalgia (luvsick)’. Following on from a stream of new releases in 2020, nostalgia (luvsick) is a catchy indie/ dance pop track that is destined to get you screaming the lyrics within just a few listens.
At just under three minutes, the song displays how much of a powerhouse this young act is. Inspired by Scott Pilgrim, with Ren discussing how she enjoyed stepping into a character’s shoes for a moment.
“nostalgic (luvsick)’ is a really important song to me, I’ve been sitting on it for so long and it is truly one of my favourites! This song is very visual for me, and it reminds a lot of Scott Pilgrim, which is basically the backbone for the entire creative arch surrounding the song, the visuals and cover art are reminiscent of Scott’s character, I think that it’s really cool to be able to be in Scott’s shoes and play his character for a brief moment”
Ren’s distinct voice fits perfectly with the production and sound of nostalgia (luvsick), making a notable and appealing track. My favourite part of this track is that it’s everything that I love about the indie sound and story, but there’s a pop and alt rock mix too it. It’s the perfect combination of everything great.
If you’re a fan of Dua Lipa, LAUV or Carly Rae Jepsen’s new releases, you’re going to love this track.
And I can definitely say that I already love it!
