Song Review - DRUE.X - Nerve

REVIEW BY: JADE GUIDA

Singer Songwriter DREU.X buckles up for the release of her second single ‘Nerve’.

Let me paint you a picture.

This is an eerie dream pop blue, a vision, a fantasy. This song is a woman in a white dress running away from an unknown being in a woodland. It is fear, unknown it is haunting, and, on the flipside, it is explosively passionate.

There is an element of sorrow in this song, you feel every word and hang off every line.

This is a rare gem.

You can see creativity and passion in every passing note. ‘Nerve’ is a live wire, an electric current of angst and emotion. The line ‘You got so much nerve putting out a fire you started’ is beyond powerful and will lead you to go back for repeated listens.
The passion and emotion behind this song is incredibly moving and can be felt. The song behaves almost like a short film, you can see a whole world unfolding in front of you and you just keep hoping for more.

The vocals on this track are delicate and create a sense of euphoria, you could drown in subtly and nuisance of fragile notes.

This is one of the most clever pieces of music I have heard in the genre and it deserves to be consumed and experienced by listeners everywhere.

Singer Songwriter DREU.X buckles up for the release of her second single ‘Nerve’ following her The Voice Australia debut.

DREU.X’s rendition of ‘Down Under’ rewarded her with a successful audition and even better follow up, releasing a full version of her cover in September just been.

DREU.X and Melbourne producer Benjamin McCarthy (Gordi, G-Flip, Alex The Astronaut) have teamed up yet again for a third time having worked so well together previously. “Ben is the bomb. I am so lucky to be in the presence of such a creative genius. Not once but three times!”

DREU.X’s second single ‘Nerve’ screams moody dream pop. “When I approached Ben with Nerve I said all I know is I’m super stoked with the lyric

and this story… I am not entirely sure what it should sound like, we’re gonna’ have to muck around with sounds and wing it.” “We ended up with this Celtic meets extra-terrestrial, dark, electric bop.”

“‘Nerve’ came to me in a moment of pain, frustration, angst and anger. The lyric ‘You got so much nerve putting out a fire you started’ was my base. I worked around that line. It brought out a truck load of rage and sadness I had been hiding beneath the surface, as you do.” “I want this story to be a representation of what purity can look, sound, feel like in the eyes of delusional evil.”

With the influences of Kate Bush, BANKS and Fleetwood Mac, DREU.X’s moody, cinematic take on Indie Pop commands attention with a voice that goes from tiny precision to giant roar.

Nerve is out everywhere now!
