Song Review - Kita Alexander - ‘Run’

Review By: Camilo Piovesan

Kita Alexander life experiences has been documented in the songs she has written and released. Born in Brisbane, raised in Port Macquarie, NSW – where she got to experience the beach and coastal life in an avocado farm, from the age of 15 put her original music to the test at pubs along with familiar tunes in a battle to get noticed by crowds of drunks. Not one to give up, but one to take risks, she left school at age 15 and travelled to Byron Bay and experienced life surfing while working at a café. From there she dedicated her life to songwriting and releasing music.

Her biggest hit Hotel, based on losing her sister Tash to cancer, and “Against The Water”, written about her champion Pro Surfer husband Owen Wright who obtained a brain injury in Hawaii when in training for the title back in 2015, despite opposition from family and friends they stayed together. Now they are married and raising child together.

Over 80 million streams online since her official debut in 2015 with “On My Way”, Kita Alexander now returns with a new single Run, released through Warner Music Australia. The song is written about asking her lover to stop pushing her away – or running away – to loneliness, despite the coldness of his response and the therapy that is meant to be helping him. And she won’t give up, no matter how hard.

This is a piece of pop with a breezy beat, which is musically uplifting. Kita Alexander’s new single Run is out now.
