Album Review - Crowbar - 'Zero & Below'

Review By: Camilo Piovesan

Thirty years of playing together, and a worldwide pandemic, has not stopped Crowbar making their legendary presence continue to be felt in the heavy metal scene of sludge and doom. Get prepared to listen to an album that is not only thunderous to listen to, would most likely make you sweat even if you are just sitting down on the couch and not making those headbanging movements that this album will tempt you to make from beginning to end. An escape to a darker place.

The first single of their new album Zero and Below, “Chemical Godz”, says band member Kirk Windstein, “We are all so excited to release the song and video for ‘Chemical Godz!’ It’s been nearly two years since the album was completed. It was such a sad time for so many people going through the Covid-19 epidemic and we felt it wasn’t a good time to release any new material. Get ready because the heavy is coming! We hope y’all enjoy the song and video. Stay safe out there!”

Its heavy music that aims to have its crushing effect, with other standout tracks “Bleeding From Every Hole” and “It’s Always Worth The Gain”, would see the album be the gift that keeps on giving for metal fans that have been patiently waiting new music from the band, which is also delivered in a vocally mature way, while not losing the essence of doom.

Zero And Below is available on CD, LP, cassette, and digitally. Preview and purchase the record at THIS LOCATION. View the band’s previously-released video for "Chemical Godz" HERE and "Bleeding From Every Hole" HERE.
