Melbourne band Loser are far from what their name suggests and are a favourite for many Aussie punk rock fans. After the premiere on Triple J’s Late Nights, they officially released their latest single titled ‘On The Edge’ recorded from their newly launched studio ‘Restless Noise Records.

Vocalist Tim Maxwell says he dealt with a lot of stress and anxiety and was on the brink of a breakdown. The song stems from this dark place but in the end he says it's all about overcoming your fears and learning to accept and love who you are. Sometimes in the moment we may feel it's easier to mask the pain, usually in the long run, it does more harm than good.

The chorus chimes in loud and angsty, “Don't care what you say, I'm over today, I heard what you said, now I'm on the edge” I feel like everyone can, at least in some way or in some degree relate to this hard. During lockdown we were all feeling anxious, lost, angry and whatnot and the guitar parts really bring everything together and make it punchy. The music video reflects this storyline with Maxwell isolated in a small dark room, screens glitching and playing all around him, with rather chaotic camera movements and angles, capturing that essence of anxiety pretty darn well. Still, sonically it's fun and catchy. I'll be honest it took a few days to grow on me, but now it's racked up more than enough plays and now I know all the words by heart. These guys really know how to churn out tune after tune!
