Song Review - THE LINDA LINDAS - “TALKING TO MYSELF”

REVIEW BY: ISABELLA URETA

Love me some punk/pop and so cool when it’s a group of girls singing it. The Linda Lindas are a punk rock band from LA, half asian and Lainx, which I think is pretty damn hot. I haven't heard this band before, 100% new to my ears. So I was doing some research on them and found out that they are a close group consisting of two sisters, a cousin and a friend. What a mix.

Okay let's get down to the song. This jam has a punk, pop new vibe to it, combining some nice nice electric guitar, drums, fast tempo/beat. The intro instantly draws you in, it’s catchy, the sound really kinda grabs your attention and the vocals are energetic and fun! Now the lyrics are great too, the girls are singing about talking to themselves, I assume it’s like what everyone does really. We are constantly talking to ourselves on a daily basis and I feel that is the message these girls are bringing through this track. Some of the lyrics go something like this “Think about the things that fill your head full of doubt, like when you cannot stop stressing, about all the wrong directions and your head just won’t stop spinning” This can come any many different forms, talking to ourselves in a negative way, positive way, sometimes in crazyways, I mean the list goes on and on and it’s something to drive you bonkers. And it is nice to have someone to share that with, maybe not all the crazy stuff or maybe yes, I guess it’s better to express everything out vs holding it in.

The video is a bit different, black and white, to be honest I find it a bit creepy. It’s a little funny too, you gotta watch it. I'm not a fan of dolls, but that's just me. Though it's super cute when they are all playing together in the band. They look like fun girls, Im diggin the whole vibe they got together. Love the lindas, good track girls. We are all talking to ourselves, always, guilty as charged.
