Tired Lion – ‘Cya Later’ - Song Review

Brisbane based band Tired Lion have done none other than impress with their brand new single “~Cya Later~” which is taken off their upcoming second album Breakfast For Pathetic’s that is due to be released November 20th. This single is another little teaser from the album as its followed “Lie To Me” and “Waterbed” which were absolute bangers and had listeners becoming excited for the rest of the tracks.
The first time I heard the track, I thought I was listening to a Smashing Pumpkins song. It sounded like it came straight off Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness and I became hooked straight away, making it my favourite song of theirs so far.
The track starts off with clean guitar chords before the impressive vocals from vocalist Sophie Hopes come in and blow me away with the well-written lyrics. The catchy sounds of the other instruments come in for the verse alongside backup vocal harmonies that just complete this song and turn it into a grunge fans fantasy. Verses are filled with strong drums, cleanish guitar and rad bass while the chorus focuses more on the great vocals and catchy lyrics. This track has definitely been flawless and for me, the bridge creates such a feeling of nostalgia and throws out huge 90’s grunge vibes with the rad guitar chords along with vocal harmonies and the lyrics repeating “The air smells so different this year” before hitting back in to the catchy chorus.
“~Cya Later~” is certainly a stand out track for me as a huge grunge fan, I appreciate the influence and the sounds that have been put into this incredible track and I’m sure fans are feeling the same as they get excited for the upcoming album. This track has everything I wanted and expected from this band from the song itself to the awesome music video.
