Melbourne multi-hyphenate G Flip shares their new single and video 'The Worst Person Alive’ - out now via Future Classic. Produced by G Flip, Aidan Hogg (Jaguar Jonze, Holy Holy, Hope D) and Charlie Brand (Weezer, Emily Burns) the track boasts everything we love about G Flip; powerful vocals, climactic percussion, and bittersweet lyrics that hit home.

LISTEN TO 'THE WORST PERSON ALIVE'

Speaking of the single, G Flip says; "This song is about feeling like the worst person alive after being the one to instigate a breakup. One day you’re in a relationship and the other person is your number 1, they know everything about you, they know you better than anyone else, you’ve had some of your best memories with that person and then you break up and you sadly become strangers. I really hate that it’s all or nothing.  It’s such a drastic change - 'Last year I was the love of your life, now I’m the worst person alive'"

The single release comes with the announcement of G Flip’s highly anticipated, second album DRUMMER being released on Friday, 11 August 2023.

Of the forthcoming album, G Flip shares; “My new album is called DRUMMER. I’m going full ballistic in my brain to announce this as I've been waiting years to share this with you all, so I'm gonna go have about 20 margaritas to celebrate. Growing up watching pop music icons, I never saw a solo artist whose main instrument was drums.  I wanted to make the album that my kid self dreamed of, a hybrid of pop/rock but with drums out the front. Incorporating groove, tempo, feel and drum moments while still making catchy pop music. I honestly can’t wait for you to hear this album in August.”.

‘The Worst Person Alive’ will be the second single to feature on DRUMMER, following on from ‘Be Your Man’ - A heart-on-sleeve love song, which premiered on triple j and became a viral moment online, earning the single widespread acclaim.

G Flip will return home for the DRUMMER Australian Tour this August/September, performing ten huge shows in Brisbane, Cairns, Adelaide, Perth, Torquay, Melbourne, Sydney and Newcastle. The long-awaited tour news is a homecoming celebration, marking their first headline dates on Aussie soil since 2019. ABOUT G FLIP

G Flip is becoming the role model they never had growing up. The rising superstar makes the kind of high-powered rock pop music that could only come from the heart and mind of a drummer. A near-lifelong musician who took up drumming at just nine-years-old, the Australian singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist crafts every track with a deep-rooted instinct for rhythm and its potential to impact the listener on a purely visceral level. As shown on their debut smash single ‘About You’—a 2018 release named a Best New Track by Pitchfork, with Rolling Stone soon hailing G Flip as an “Artist You Need To Know”—the Melbourne-born and now L.A-based phenomenon matches that potent musicianship with equal parts sonic originality, raw emotionality, and fantastically outspoken point-of-view (an element informed by their experience as a queer, non-binary artist). After achieving major success as a DIY sensation, G Flip now ushers in a bold new era with DRUMMER: a sophomore album cementing their status as a truly singular force of nature. When approaching their sophomore effort they had a clarity of vision, “When I was a kid trying to find someone to identify with, I would’ve killed to see a drumming pop star on MTV. It’s something I’d been waiting for forever, and when writing this album, I had to take my best shot at becoming the person I’d been searching for.”
