Following on the release of their debut EP ‘Defence Mechanisms’, Sydney based alternative-rock quartet Second Idol have just revealed the accompanying video clip for the EP’s focus track ‘Out Of Time’ – filmed by Cam Davies, directed and edited by band member Maxine Gillon.

Shot at Good Loco in Marrickville, the clip depicts the band performing the song against a white back drop, with grainy VHS effects creating a 90’s aesthetic. Featuring quick transitions and a range of filming techniques, the music video’s candidness faultlessly matches the song’s production and emotion.

Gillon and lead singer Kate Olivia talk about the meaning behind ‘Out Of Time’:

"We wanted to create a performance-based clip that borrows from the aesthetic and energy of Nine Inch Nails “March of the Pigs'. The idea was to present the liminal space of the band as a live entity. Given the reputation we’ve garnished as a compelling live act, we wanted to document the energy that exists between us on stage and put that at the forefront of our presentation as a band.”

To support the release, Second Idol will be touring the East-Coast of Australia, performing at Chippo Hotel in SydneyThe Tote in MelbourneDicey’s Saturdays in Wollongong, and Sideway in Canberra.

Singles from ‘Defence Mechanisms’ have been widely embraced by Australian radio stations triple jtriple j UnearthedFBiThe FactionEdge Radio2SER2XX FMRTR FM4ZZZSYN FM and WXRY Unsigned (USA).
