Wrapped in a blanket of cosy indie lo-fi, interwoven with delicate threads of psych-pop comes the latest release from Brisbane’s Juniper Stone, who has unveiled his newest single ‘Moonchild’ (out November 26).
The solo project of singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and respected collaborator Damien Vincent, Juniper Stone has been dedicated to breathing his original works into life since debuting in 2020 with single ‘Ginseng’, followed by sophomore single ‘Patterns’ earlier this year.
Now, Juniper Stone returns with ‘Moonchild’, a sonic dream-daze soaked with dewy lo-fi melodies featuring soothing guitars and sinuous bass riffs. Moving fluidly amongst droplets of psychedelic synths and mellow percussion, the track finds Juniper Stone's serene vocals submerged in watery, rain-speckled soundscapes.
Cool, calm and collected, a suave saxophone solo moves like liquid gold as Juniper Stone’s sweetened vocal harmonies float untethered on the song’s surface, taking us on a gentle journey between doze, dream and reality.
Written during a rainy week filled with cosy bed covers and wondrous dreamscapes, Juniper Stone captures the essence of rainfall within ‘Moonchild’, replicating the serenity that accompanies a rainy day in bed.
"I’ve always enjoyed the rain and the cozy melancholy that seems to come with rainy weather, which was one of the inspirations for ‘Moonchild’. I wanted to capture this within the song and have each of the instruments sound like they’d been soaked in the rain. ‘Moonchild’ essentially refers to the person you become whilst dreaming, when you don’t have to think so much and can just let go."
Be whisked away into Juniper Stone’s dream-soaked new single ‘Moonchild’, out on November 26.
