Aussie nu-metal mainstays Bison have just dropped their new ep, Perfect Mistakes, their first release in a number of years.

Along with Sam Bassal at the producers desk, they make a memorable EP with their unique brand of nu-metal that many have come to love over the years. The EP opens with ‘Begin Again,’ an extremely energetic start to the release, getting straight into it with a riff that’s definitely reminiscent of fellow nu-metal bands like Korn and Limp Bizkit. But Bison put their own spin on it with modern production elements, and vocals that are distinctly them.

The energy follows to ‘New Enemy,’ which opens up with emotional lyrical bars, showing how much this song means to the group. We then get to the singalong chorus, which will transport you to the mosh pit at one of their shows, and make you want to bang your head along with it. We get another modern vibe seeping through ‘Take Your Place’ with a pretty awesome riff that immediately pulls you into the song and shows you the immense amount of talent the group has. Coupled along with lively vocal lines, it shows you that Bison have still got it, even 24 years after they first got together.

These modern stylings are brought through the next two tracks, ‘A Million Miles’ and ‘Stained,’ both tracks that waste no time getting to the heavy stuff and illustrate the group’s energy and vigour. In what is the perfect end to Perfect Mistakes, ‘Blindside’ is an energetic jam that has everything you’d want out of a Bison track, and more.

They’ve got the powerful bars, some emotional singing, a breakdown, and just immense drive flowing through the entire 3 minutes and 4 seconds. A perfect conclusion to a great EP.
