G FLIP – YOU & I - Song Review

Melbourne-based artist G Flip is known for her string of catchy, feel-good pop releases, and she’s back with another one. ‘You & I’ is G Flip’s follow up to her single ‘Hyperfine’ which she dropped in May of this year, and of course it’s got her classic infectious pop sound you’d expect.
The track starts off with Georgia Flipo’s soft, angelic voice serenading you alongside a minimal synth, and suddenly bursts into an undeniably catchy melodic-pop beat. “You & I is an LGBTQIA+ love anthem,” she explained, “it’s about being able to look at someone and the whole world just becomes background noise to your epic love story.” With lines like ‘I wouldn’t trade you for nobody / one day I will make you my wife’ that G Flip croons, you can truly hear and feel the raw emotion in the song.
The fact that this track is a love anthem written for everyone in the LGBTQIA+ by someone from the community, makes it that much more personal. ‘You & I’ is an upbeat, insatiably catchy love song that you’ll love after just one listen, and it showcases G Flip’s incredible vocals wonderfully.
With a beautiful song like this, you’ll surely anticipate an equally loving music video, and that’s exactly what G Flip provides for us. Between scenes of Georgia Flipo singing in her insanely powerful voice, we see various LGBTQIA+ couples hanging out, holding hands, and just loving. What makes the music video even more special is the fact that those depicted on screen are in fact real couples showing their love for each other.
All in all, ‘You & I’ is a gorgeous journey of love from start to finish, from song to music video, and it’s available everywhere to listen now – you’ll be glad you did.
