HAYLEY MARY - THE CHAIN - Song Review
Australia truly has been showcasing the talent it produces lately, and another rising indie-pop star from the country is the incredibly talented Hayley Mary.
Hayley’s newest single ‘The Chain’ is her first release since her debut EP ‘The Piss, The Perfume’ in early 2020. This song was actually penned by the singer back in March when she was set to head out on tour but was instead grounded with no thanks to COVID-19. At the time she wrote it, she thought it was the saddest song she’d ever written, but it’s instead become an upbeat pop anthem that we all need in these uncertain times.
“It was a feeling that there is some kind of invisible magic chain holding me to the Earth and keeping me from moving forward or climbing higher,” Hayley Mary said about writing her latest single. Her rich voice cuts through the music and make your toes want to tap with the feel-good beat. Hayley’s unique alto-pop vocals make it difficult to think that this tune was written with melancholic intentions, as she truly does serenade.
The Australian indie-pop-rocker wears a plethora of stunning wardrobe choices throughout the music video, while she grooves in different environments and croons about being chained to the Earth and prevented from moving forward. Accompanied by her stellar outfits are even the more exceptional scenes they’re worn in; from an outdoor flower-filled garden, to performing on an old-timey antique themed stage. The whole video is a fun, gorgeous adventure from start to finish.
If she isn’t your new favorite rising popstar, she should be. Hayley Mary’s single ‘The Chain’ available to stream everywhere now.
